First announced in 2021, Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D Remake is a game that many have had their eye on for a while but continue to grow increasingly anxious about, given Square Enix's complete radio silence since the game’s announcement. It seems, however, that could change soon enough.
Or, at least, that’s what prominent leaker Midori seems to be indicating on Twitter. Responding to a question about whether there will be any news on Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D Remake anytime soon, the leaker claimed that development on the game is “still moving forward” and that Square Enix is likely to share new details on it sometime this year.
Exactly when that will happen isn’t something the leaker went into, but with multiple major summer showcases coming up in the near future. Hopefully, it won’t be too long before the remake makes a reappearance.
Meanwhile, Square Enix is also working on Dragon Quest 12: The Flames of Fate, the series’ next mainline installment, which is being built on Unreal Engine 5. Recent reports, however, have claimed that the game has been hit with multiple internal delays due to prolonged production issues.
