The recently launched teaser website for "The Truth Lies" quickly led fans to uncover the logo and the official title of the next installment in the series, prompting Activision to verify that Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 is indeed in the pipeline. The game is set to be unveiled following the Xbox Games Showcase on June 9 at the previously scheduled [REDACTED] showcase.
Although the announcement comes as a surprise, the development of Black Ops 6 has been an ongoing project for some time. Indeed, revelations about the game first surfaced in 2022, the same year when playtesting started, according to Treyarch's game designer, Nicole Havin. Recently, Havin shared on Twitter that she has been involved in playtesting the game for two years, hinting that the upcoming reveal might have some unexpected elements that fans are not yet prepared for.
While the release date for Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 has not been set, there is speculation that the game may launch in October. Sources suggest that the narrative will revolve around the Gulf War, marking it as the first franchise title developed over a four-year period. It is also anticipated to be available on Game Pass at launch, although there is no formal confirmation from Microsoft. Nonetheless, Xbox president Sarah Bond has affirmed that Activision games will be accessible on the Game Pass from day one after their release.
